Transit & Rail Data Scientist Peter Maximilian Fortunato, aka Max Fortune, is excited to give a free talk on data science and the communication of data.

In this event, Max will discuss the concept of data science, example projects/problems that he has been tasked with solving, the tools used by data scientists to uncover actionable insights, as well as the critical role that reproducibility plays in the dissemination of scientific discovery.

Additionally, Max will focus the discussion on his favorite aspect of data science: data visualization. Max, founder and owner of Solplots, LLC, believes plots are key for the democratization of understanding science and data. Max will share some of his favorite (and not-so favorite) plots and talk about how this fuels his desire to post on TikTok and Instagram (@solplots). Max will share information regarding future classes he intends to hold with Because Science that will teach students how to use programming languages to become citizen data scientists.

This event is intended for adult audiences and will last approximately 60 minutes.

Registration is not required but does guarantee a spot at this talk.

About Us

Because Science is a love letter to all things STEM, particularly the fusion of art and science. A lot of the products you’ll find here and in our shop are handmade in our very own design lab, while some are the brainchild of other creators. We celebrate it all because science literally makes the world go ‘round.
