Get them ready for the lab with their own circuit board badge reel or present them with an ornament to remind them of this momentous year.

Meet Cheyenne Polius

From Cheyenne:

“I celebrated my achievements but today, I celebrate the journey.

You see the fancy degree title, the awards and the clean look as we get all dolled up for our ceremony. Many don’t see the late nights and early mornings in the library, the breakdowns, the panic attacks that kept you up at night, the times spent crying to the people closest to you and probably double those times spent crying alone.

This day was so much more than celebrating my shiny, new qualification and awards. It was about celebrating my journey of navigating life in a new country, with a new goal, dealing with new people and learning to live without some of my favourite people. Not to mention my lazy, unfit ass moving to a city where EVERYWHERE is uphill😭

I’m celebrating adapting, learning, unlearning, healing and growing. A whole lot of growing. The woman who walked into that first lecture in 2015 is a distant memory now. She had no idea what was in store for her but I’m so grateful for her bravery. I owe her everything for not giving up on us.

There were so many times she thought she wouldn’t make it. There were times she felt like she wasn’t good enough, smart enough, disciplined enough. Times she felt completely alone. But she wiped her tears, leaned on her amazing support system, got professional help when she needed it and kept going.

Whatever journey you’re on now, don’t give up. You’re good enough, smart enough, talented enough and you’re worthy of success. It’s not going to be easy but we can do hard things. Lean on your support system. Ask questions. Ask for help. But just keep going. One day, you’ll be so glad you did❤️."
