Frozen Dinosaur Egg Excavation
Can you rescue a dinosaur trapped inside a frozen egg?
Ready for an exciting hands-on science adventure? Young explorers will become paleontologists as they investigate the best ways to free a dinosaur frozen inside an icy, watery egg. Will warm water work best? What about salt, tools, or even a hammer? There's only one way to find out—experiment!
What to Expect
Excavate a Frozen Dinosaur Egg
Test different excavation techniques to discover the fastest and most effective way to rescue the dinosaur hidden inside the ice.
Explore the Science of Ice
Learn how different materials and methods affect melting as you investigate, experiment, and solve the challenge.
Safety Comes First
Participants who choose to use a hammer must wear padded gloves and safety glasses, which we'll provide. Whenever hammers are in use, everyone in the activity area will wear safety glasses.
Fun for the Whole Family
Designed with ages 5–8 in mind, but younger children are welcome to participate with water-based methods and adult assistance. Kids and adults alike are invited to join the fun!
