Get creative and build your very own battery-powered, laser-cut wooden lamp! Assemble the wooden pieces, decorate your creation, and bring your imagination to life with a spooky Halloween-inspired twist.

Whether you create a creepy creature, spooky scene, or your own unique design, no two lamps will be alike!

Details:

All Materials Provided: We provide the precut wooden pieces, battery-powered light components, and decorating supplies you'll need to create your lamp.

Open to Everyone: Best suited for families, adults, and older kids. Younger children under 5 may have difficulty fitting the pieces together.

Easy Drop-In: No registration is needed—just stop by during activity hours!

Plan for Some Decorating Time: The basic assembly is fairly quick, but past participants have typically spent 30–60 minutes making their lamps, especially when adding lots of decorations. 

Come build, decorate, and make something delightfully spooky to light up your Halloween season! This event is part of our Spooky Science Festival!

Getting Here & What to Expect: 
All events take place inside the Craft Lab at Because Science, our retail shop located at 1759 Columbia Rd NW, Washington, DC (across from the Line Hotel in Adams Morgan).

 Look for the squiggly rainbow mural! Enter Because Science and walk to the back of the store (between the biology and anatomy sections) to find the entrance to the Craft Lab
 Metro: We're a 10-minute walk from the Woodley Park (red line) or Columbia Heights (green line) Metro stations.
 Bus: The D72, D74, C51, and C53 buses stop nearby.
 Parking: Street parking is mostly limited to 30 minutes—walking, biking, or ride share is recommended. There is a parking garage located at 2421 18th St NW, about a block away.
