Intro to Beadweaving
Curious about beadweaving? This beginner-friendly project is the perfect way to learn—and you’ll walk away with a beautiful handmade necklace!
What to Expect:
📿 Learn the Basics: Expert bead artist Amanda Preske will guide you through selecting colors, weaving your pendant, and turning it into a finished necklace—all in about an hour.
🎨 Customize Your Design: Choose from a wide array of bead colors to make your piece uniquely yours.
👩🎨 For Teens & Adults: Recommended for ages 14+. Due to the fine motor skills and focus required, we don’t suggest this activity for younger participants.
👥 Registration: Space is limited and advance registration is required.
⏰ Starts Promptly at 2PM: This is not a drop-in activity—please arrive on time so we can all begin together!
Getting Here & What to Expect:
All events take place inside the Craft Lab at Because Science, our retail shop located at 1759 Columbia Rd NW, Washington, DC (across from the Line Hotel in Adams Morgan).
Look for the squiggly rainbow mural! Enter Because Science and walk to the back of the store (between the biology and anatomy sections) to find the entrance to the Craft Lab
Metro: We're a 10-minute walk from the Woodley Park (red line) or Columbia Heights (green line) Metro stations.
Bus: The 42, 43, and 90/92 buses stop nearby.
Parking: Street parking is mostly limited to 30 minutes—walking, biking, or ride share is recommended. There is a parking garage located at 2421 18th St NW, about a block away.
