Celebrate the science of communication!

The all-day session runs 9am-5pm. Lunchtime is 12pm-1pm and is BYO (bring your own) though we'll have filtered water for everyone as needed. This session is recommended for kids 7-11 years old. You may drop off starting as early as 8:50am. When you drop your child(ren) off, we'll collect emergency contact information and allergy information for those new to Because Science.

In the morning, we'll ignite curiosity through engaging activities focused on the fundamentals of science communication, where kids will play the telephone game, build walkie-talkies, and create emotion collages to explore how we share ideas. After a fun lunch break with friends, we'll dive deeper into interpreting data and conveying scientific concepts, culminating in collaborative plays that showcase their newfound skills and inspire effective communication in today’s complex world.

Registrations cancelled after March 9 are nonrefundable, and by purchasing a ticket you agree to these terms (feel free to get in touch if a situation arises as we may be able to make alternative arrangements, and transfers to other children or families are absolutely ok).

PLEASE NOTE that this afternoon session will be cancelled if less than 5 children are registered. The spirit of the camp doesn't work if there aren't enough children to collaborate with each other. We will make the determination by March 10, and if we cancel the afternoon session, we will refund the difference as your child will still attend the morning session. If we meet the threshold between now and March 10, this notice will disappear.

This Science Day Camp is presented by Ann Miller, Executive Director at Science is Elemental, a science education 501C3 nonprofit. For over twenty years, Ann has been involved as tutor, mentor, and coordinator of tutoring/mentoring activities for elementary school students. Ann received her Ph.D. in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology, and her B.A. in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania.

About Us

Because Science is a love letter to all things STEM, particularly the fusion of art and science. A lot of the products you’ll find here and in our shop are handmade in our very own design lab, while some are the brainchild of other creators. We celebrate it all because science literally makes the world go ‘round.
