Simply drill holes into freshly cut logs, insert the plugs, cover with wax, and bury them horizontally as described above. In just a few months' time, you'll have a bountiful harvest of plump and delicious Maitake mushrooms that are perfect for stir-fries, soups or sautéed as a side dish.
To ensure optimal fruiting, we recommend burying the logs horizontally in a shaded area or under trees. This allows for better moisture retention and encourages the mycelium to spread evenly throughout the log, resulting in larger and more flavorful mushrooms.
