STEM Play: Science Fair at The Craft Lab!
Get ready to explore, experiment, and discover during a hands-on STEM experience designed to spark curiosity and encourage young minds to ask questions!
Children will rotate through a variety of interactive science experiments and activities that make learning exciting through hands-on exploration. With guidance available every step of the way, kids can investigate, observe, and experiment at their own pace while discovering how science helps explain the world around them.
Our experiments are thoughtfully selected from the STEM activity books available in our retail store, giving families the opportunity to continue the learning and fun at home if they'd like.
Perfect for Children Ages 3–8
Activities are designed with children ages 3–8 in mind, but curious learners of all ages are welcome to participate and enjoy the experience.

Materials Provided:
All experiment materials are included with admission.
Protective Gear:
Smocks and child-sized safety eyewear are provided. While every effort is made to minimize messes, some experiments may stain or damage clothing, so we recommend wearing play clothes.
Take the Learning Home:
Many of the experiments featured during the event come from science activity books available for purchase in our retail store, making it easy to continue exploring at home.
Supervision Required:
Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the event.

Getting Here & What to Expect:
All events take place inside the Craft Lab at Because Science, our retail shop located at 1759 Columbia Rd NW, Washington, DC (across from the Line Hotel in Adams Morgan).
Look for the squiggly rainbow mural! Enter Because Science and walk to the back of the store (between the biology and anatomy sections) to find the entrance to the Craft Lab
Metro: We're a 10-minute walk from the Woodley Park (red line) or Columbia Heights (green line) Metro stations.
Bus: The D72, D74, C51, and C53 buses stop nearby.
Parking: Street parking is mostly limited to 30 minutes—walking, biking, or ride share is recommended. There is a parking garage located at 2421 18th St NW, about a block away.
