Storytime & Craft at The Craft Lab!

Blast off into an unforgettable space adventure featuring Bok's Giant Leap: One Moon Rock's Journey Through Time and Space by Neil Armstrong!

Travel through billions of years of history alongside Bok, a remarkable moon rock with an incredible story to tell. From its beginnings on Earth to its journey into space during the Moon's formation, Bok witnesses the evolution of our planet before finally making its way back home through one of humanity's greatest adventures. This beautifully illustrated story introduces young readers to the wonders of Earth, the Moon, space exploration, and the curiosity that drives scientific discovery.

After storytime, children who are registered for the craft workshop will become space explorers as they create their own Moon Rock Discovery using air-drying clay. They'll shape and design a unique moon-inspired keepsake to take home while learning about moon rocks, craters, and the fascinating objects found beyond Earth.

1:15 PM – 2:30 PM
Moon Rock Discovery Workshop: Create your own moon rock keepsake using air-drying clay and learn about the incredible journey of rocks from space.

Storytime: Free for everyone!

Moon Rock Discovery Workshop: Paid activity ($5). Families are welcome to enjoy the free storytime and head home before the craft portion begins if they prefer. 

Supervision Required: Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the event.

Getting Here & What to Expect:
All events take place inside the Craft Lab at Because Science, our retail shop located at 1759 Columbia Rd NW, Washington, DC (across from the Line Hotel in Adams Morgan).

 Look for the squiggly rainbow mural! Enter Because Science and walk to the back of the store (between the biology and anatomy sections) to find the entrance to the Craft Lab
 Metro: We're a 10-minute walk from the Woodley Park (red line) or Columbia Heights (green line) Metro stations.
 Bus: The D72, D74, C51, and C53 buses stop nearby.
 Parking: Street parking is mostly limited to 30 minutes—walking, biking, or ride share is recommended. There is a parking garage located at 2421 18th St NW, about a block away.
